39M Secret API Keys Leaked via GitHub – New Tools Aim to Boost Security
Over 39 million secrets were exposed on GitHub last year, including API keys and credentials - many from well-meaning developers. In response, GitHub has rolled out new tools like standalone secret protection, org-wide scanning, and AI-powered detection to curb the leaks.
Google has released urgent patches addressing 62 security vulnerabilities in Android, including several that could allow remote attackers to take over devices without any user interaction. Two zero-day flaws have already been exploited in the wild to unlock phones. Among the most severe: a critical flaw in the Android System component and an actively exploited bug in the Linux kernel’s USB audio driver.
The NHS is investigating serious claims from an IT whistleblower who says a long-standing security flaw at private provider Medefer left sensitive patient data exposed - including NHS numbers, addresses, and doctors' notes.
